Department of Commerce

History:

The Department of Commerce was established in the year 2012 with the introduction of the Undergraduate Programme in Commerce (B.Com Computer Application) with a vision of Imparting professionally competent, quality higher education in commerce to the rural and marginalized sections of the society and thereby contribute to the national development. Since then, the department has steadily grown and achieved several milestones. The department was upgraded to a Post Graduate department with the introduction of M.Com Finance in the year 2016. It had increased its student strength by introducing B.Com   Finance in the year 2014. Since 2015, it has offered one more undergraduate programs (B.Com) in Cooperation.

Course description

Commerce is a field for students who have an interest in financial information/transactions, trading of economic value, etc. Students often consider taking up Commerce after completing Class 12. Students who are looking forward to pursuing a career in Commerce have a wide range of choices before them.

Candidates can pursue the Commerce course at the undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma levels as well as at the doctoral level. UG level Commerce courses offered to aspirants include B.Com, BBA, CA, CS, BBA LLB, etc. At the PG level, popular Commerce programs are   M.Com, MBA, MPhil, etc. Generally speaking, UG courses in Commerce are of three years duration whereas PG programmes are of two years duration.

Among the Commerce courses, students can consider choosing specializations such as Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Accounting and Taxation, Business Administration, Applied Economics, E-Commerce, Financial Accounting, Banking and Insurance, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, Accounting and Auditing, etc.
