BIRD

BIRD (Board of Internal and Regional Development) stands as a cornerstone of Nasra College's commitment to nurturing socially responsible citizens, perfectly aligned with the institution's overarching vision and mission. The primary aim of BIRD is to cultivate a deep sense of social consciousness and civic responsibility among its student body, fostering a community of individuals dedicated to making positive contributions to society. Its objectives are clear: to align with Nasra College's vision and mission, to foster students' awareness of their communities and cultivate a sense of connection, to empower students to actively recognize and address community needs and challenges, to instill a strong sense of social and civic responsibility, to develop competencies for collaborative living and shared responsibility, and to enhance students' skills in mobilizing community participation while emphasizing leadership and democratic values.

In today's world, education transcends mere knowledge acquisition; it serves as a powerful tool for societal upliftment and positive change. Graduation symbolizes not just academic achievement but also a commitment to social responsibility and inclusivity. Recognizing the importance of education-driven action in addressing societal challenges, students at Nasra College launched Palliative and BIRD, aligning with BIRD's ethos of fostering social values through community initiatives. This collaborative effort signifies a dedication to tackling pressing public health issues such as cancer while promoting societal well-being through proactive engagement.

The Nasra BIRD Club at Nasra College of Arts and Science serves as a hub for student development, promoting essential life skills and fostering a culture of giving back to the community. Through various events like exhibitions and food festivals, the club actively supports orphanages, old age homes, and the destitute, embodying the spirit of social responsibility. Additionally, Nasra College extends support to needy students through fee waivers and payment plans, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in education. Disaster relief efforts, including workshops and blood donation camps, further showcase the institution's proactive approach to addressing community needs.

The success of BIRD's initiatives is evident in the significant increase in student and teacher involvement over the past four years. Beneficiaries of BIRD's programs openly express gratitude for the financial and social support provided, emphasizing its impact on economically disadvantaged individuals while preserving their dignity. BIRD's unwavering commitment to assisting Nasra's students and staff, particularly during times of crisis such as floods and the COVID-19 pandemic, underscores its pivotal role in the college community. Moreover, BIRD's collaboration with other Nasra clubs highlights its central position in fostering a culture of social responsibility and community engagement.

Despite its successes, BIRD faces challenges in ensuring adequate volunteer participation for its scheduled programs without disrupting regular academic activities. To address this issue, Nasra College has integrated all other clubs and organizations, including NSS, SIP, Nature Club, and ED Club, with BIRD. This integration ensures that students associated with these organizations are automatically involved in BIRD's initiatives, thereby maximizing student and faculty participation and engagement. By fostering a sense of collective responsibility and collaboration, Nasra College's BIRD initiative continues to shape socially responsible citizens and make a meaningful impact on the community.

Elevating Faculty Excellence through INCEPTO Program at Nasra College of Arts and Science

Since 2012, Nasra College of Arts and Science has been dedicated to fostering faculty development programs aimed at enhancing student excellence through well-trained faculties. One of the cornerstone initiatives in this endeavor is the INCEPTO program, designed to offer college teachers opportunities for skill enhancement and academic growth. The primary objectives of INCEPTO include providing avenues for faculty to engage in research activities leading to Ph.D. degrees, facilitating their participation in academic conferences, seminars, and workshops, offering exposure opportunities at esteemed institutions, promoting the adoption of effective teaching methods, and continuous upgrading of educational content knowledge.

The INCEPTO program acknowledges the pivotal role experienced faculty members play in shaping the university's teaching-learning environment and academic administration. It emphasizes the importance of upgrading faculty skills through participation in diverse programs such as conferences, training sessions, research projects, journal publications, and career development initiatives. By investing in faculty development, Nasra College recognizes that the outcomes yield significant changes in teaching practices and overall academic quality.

One of the key components of INCEPTO is the Digital Literacy Program, tailored to enhance digital skills essential for modern teaching practices, especially in the context of collaborative teaching across dual campuses. This program focuses on self-assessment and competency-based training to address identified needs in workplace, educational, and communication technology skills. Moreover, effective communication skills are emphasized through training sessions in spoken English, grammar, and formal/informal letter writing, crucial for fostering positive interactions between teachers and students.

Furthermore, the program includes initiatives like the Teacher Development Training Programme, aimed at enhancing higher education skills and soft skills among faculty members. Stress management and personality development programs are also integral parts of INCEPTO, addressing faculty members' holistic well-being and enhancing their overall effectiveness in the educational setting.

Tailored programs within INCEPTO aim to enhance faculty performance in education, research, and administration, while also strengthening organizational capacities and culture. However, challenges such as technical knowledge gaps among certain faculty members have been identified. These challenges are addressed through targeted support and training initiatives to ensure all faculty members can fully benefit from the program.

In conclusion, the INCEPTO program at Nasra College of Arts and Science represents a holistic approach to faculty development, fostering well-rounded and effective educators committed to functional expertise, engaging classroom delivery, impactful research contributions, and personal growth. Through continuous support and tailored initiatives, Nasra College endeavors to elevate faculty excellence and enrich the educational landscape for the benefit of students and the wider community.
